[Q]Recovery is gone, debugging mode not working, flash_image recovery out of memory !

Here's my big problem or a challenge for you guy, I've looked at many forum about all those problem lots of them have solution with good comment afterward, but none solved my problem.

I have a Google Nexus S, rooted, ROM: cyanogen 7.
Rom manager premium installed, Rom tool box pro installed. Android SDK Manager installed on my computer. Driver for my phone installed.
On Windows 7 64

I used to have clockwork recovery until i decided to get the latest touch version to get ride of this popup screen in Rom Manager saying that there is a new recovery version available for my phone. Than i flashed it from Rom manager. FAILED!

Then i said no big deal i'll do it as i use to, from the computer

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

but then first i put the phone in debugging usb mode, then type in cmd,

fastboot devices

to see if its well connected, nothing! not detected, so i been digging xda and internet about that for few days. i end up trying flashing it from the terminal emulator,

flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

for example:

# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
mtd: read error at 0x00000000 (Out of memory)
mtd: read error at 0x00020000 (Out of memory)
mtd: read error at 0x00040000 (Out of memory)
mtd: read error at 0x00060000 (Out of memory)
mtd: read error at 0x00080000 (Out of memory)
mtd: read error at 0x000a0000 (Out of memory)
mtd: read error at 0x000c0000 (Out of memory)
mtd: read error at 0x000e0000 (Out of memory)
mtd: read error at 0x00100000 (Out of memory)
mtd: read error at 0x00120000 (Out of memory)

i have 16 gig sdcard, 1gig system, half of it is free, then i uninstalled almost everything which was running constantly and taking memory. There is Plenty of space and memory.

And for those who have Nexus S and have problem with the recovery disappearing all the time here is the solution,

I had the same problem and I found the solution is to rename a file in the system folder:

remount /system in read/write mode (use something like the Root Explorer app or ES File Explorer; both have root modes (check the app's settings) for remounting /system as writable)

rename the /system/recovery-from-boot.p to /system/recovery-from-boot.p-bak

(note: you could delete it, but renaming is much safer since its easily reversible)

you could also do this manually in an adb shell or on-phone Terminal session:

mv /system/recovery-from-boot.p /system/recovery-from-boot.p-bak

after you've renamed the file, you might have to re-flash your CWM if it had been missing previously

So this is not my problem anymore.

do i forgeting something......

i did
try plug unplug usb, debuging on and off when plug or unplug usb, waiting in between, mixed with reboot of the phone and the computer. Reinstalling Rom Manager, killing all process just before flashing from terminal.

I mostly need to recover the clockwork recovery. i tryied with a bunch of different version of that i have, from Rom Manager and from Fastboot, nothing work.

any solution or idea to look at would be welcome.

when i'll find the solution i'll add it here.
